Five Day Retreat: Abnormal Psychology

Stanislav Grof’s theory of perinatal (birth-related) experience provides the only comprehensive characterization of abnormal psychology from the perspective of depth psychology. Grof’s works benefits clinicians, breathwork facilitators and others interested in the phenomenon of extreme psychological states. Besides presenting Grof’s discoveries this workshop will consider the practical issues of dealing with people evidencing extreme states in clinical settings, Holotropic Breathwork workshops and ordinary life. In addition to lectures and discussions, the workshop will offer daily Holotropic Breathwork sessions for self-exploration and experiential engagement with Grof’s work . Topics to be covered include - Mysticism & psychosis and spiritual emergency - Depression vs. despair - Mania vs. bliss - Relationship of mind-body from the perspective of modern science - The nature of consciousness The retreat begins Friday evening, February 17 and concludes with lunch on Wednesday, February 22. Total cost, including the fee for the workshop and room and board, is $500.
